Windows 10: Can't Reinstall Old Scanner Software/Driver

My Windows 10 laptop was giving me this "critical error sign out now" message so I had to refresh Windows 10. Problem is, while reinstalling my CanoScan LIDO 25 software/drivers, the installation just stops after the installer unzips. The software was working fine just before I refreshed Windows 10. How do I solve this? If I don't I'll be left with a scanner I won't be able to use. Somebody please help.

Worked perfectly,

• Installed 2400 series driver (when it asked what model I had I also picked, 1270 and 4180 since these had the Slide scanner interface I thought it might add a few extra drivers)
• Restarted PC
• Needed to use Device manager 'Updated driver'
• Assign 2400 driver. (See attached image)
• Be sure scanner is powered on so it appears in device manager.

Tested the Slide scanner attachment, I used PRO mode and it was discovered.
I had to use the plastic blackout slide holder (for masking the slide) to find the slide though.

1703 - scanner freezes

My old machine wouldn't update to 1703 (and had other glitches), so I found a new-used i7 PC and put in a fresh install of 1703. Everything works fine except the scanner, an Epson Photo 3490.

I used the same driver software installer as in the old machine, but when I open the scanner one of the follow happens in no predictable order:

• It opens the scan app, then when I press Preview or Scan It tells me that the scan is starting, and then the app freezes. I need to use Task Manager to close it.
• It tells me that I don't have a Twain driver installed
• It tells me that it can't open the app.

I've deleted the driver and software, tried to install it with Admin privileges, and I've used the compatibility utility to install it for an older Windows version (both 7 and 8).

Does anyone have any suggestions to get this working?.

 

Old Scanner Drivers

I have an old Vidar Surveyor 600e that i pulled off an XP machine and i'm putting it on window 10 PC. I have connected with FireWire and have installed the latest drivers from the manufacturers website. i can confirm that Windows sees the scanner on IEEE
1394 but the computer will not recognize the drivers and the scan software cannot connect to the scanner. Is there a way i can run the drives in capability mode from start up or a way to force the computer to see the scanner ?
