Windows 10: Can't reinstall printer on Windows 10

I have a HP2700 series printer. It wasn't working this morning so I decided to uninstall it and reinstall it but it wont let me.When i click 'add printer' on the HP app it 'finds' the printer , but when it comes to 'configuring printer' it takes ages then fails so can't go to the next 2 steps - join the network and finish connections.Could anyone please advise me how to get it set up again or will I have to buy a new printer? thankssorry it says underneath to pick a topic. Im not sure which one to pick as I dont see printer so I just picked network and internet as I cant get it to join

To be sure that you followed my suggestion correctly, I will specify some steps:
CP>devices and printers>add a printer>the printer that I want isn't listed>add a local printer with manual settings>define port>Windows update and install

  Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

  This issue may arise due to printer’s driver incompatibility with Windows 10. I suggest you to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if it helps.
  To do so kindly follow the below given steps:

  Right click on printer’s driver that you have downloaded from manufacturer website.

  Click/tap on Properties.
  
• 
  Check the Run this program in Compatibility mode for under
