Windows 10: Can't remove administrator account on Windows 11

I have two accounts on this laptop: my dad's and mine; my dad and I have been trying to switch from his account to my account as the main administrator he had originally signed into my laptop with his account; we have managed to make my account the administrator, as well as remove the device from his account, but when we restart the laptop and open it again, his account is still listed as the main. We've tried every method that we've seen on the Windows website and online and nothing is working. His account has no "removed account" option.What can we do?Thank you, kindly,Aniyah Sajuan

Remove account

I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
To delete an account, follow these steps:

1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:

 

How to remove Child Account as Administrator in Windows 11

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

We understand that you want to remove the child account that is set as an administrator account on Windows 11 and we suggest you try it:

Press Windows+R, type netplwiz, find the current child account on the Accounts page and double-click on it.

Go to the Group membership tab in the new window where you will find the available account groups. Select Standard user and click Apply.



If you are unable to set up an account group for this account, it is recommended that you follow the steps in the link below to move the child account out of the family group and re-add it:Leave family group or remove members - Microsoft Support

Upgrade to Windows 10 removed administrator account named "Administrator"

1) Currently are on Windows 7 or Windows 10?

2) If you are on Windows 7, are you able to see the "Administrator" account in the PC?

If you are on Windows 10, try to follow the below steps and check.

I suggest you to perform Safe Mode with Networking and check if you’re able to login using your Microsoft account.

Method 1: Safe mode.

Please follow below steps:

    Click on power button at left bottom corner, press and hold
    Shift key and click on Restart.
    
  • 
    Click on Troubleshoot.
    
  • 
    Click on Advanced options.
    
  • 
    Click on Startup Settings.
    
  • 
    Click on Restart.
    
  • 
    Login to Microsoft Account and create a new administrator account.
    

If you’re not able to login using Microsoft account then refer to below steps and check if it helps.

Method 2:
Activate Inbuilt Administrator Account.

Follow the below steps:

    Click on power button at left bottom corner, press and hold
    Shift key and click on Restart.

    Click on Troubleshoot.
    
  • 
    Click on Advanced options.
    
  • 
    Click on Command Prompt and enter following command.
    
    net user Administrator /active:yes
    

Now reboot your system and login to inbuilt admin account and try to reset password for other account. Once you reset password login to other account and to deactivate inbuilt admin account enter following command in elevated command prompt.

net user Administrator /active:no
