Windows 10: Can't remove keyboards

This is a problem that has been plaguing me for a couple of months now. All of a sudden Windows 10 decided it was going to start silently adding the UK keyboard layout to my language bar. As someone who needs to switch between languages frequently, it's turned into a major hassle. The UK keyboard layout is not listed in the keyboards list in the control panel so I can't remove it. I've found registry tricks to delete it from the registry after a restart and that used to work temporarily, but it always silently comes back and constantly restarting to get rid of it causes a lot of interruptions. And now that doesn't even work anymore, the keyboard never goes away even after removing it from the registry preload and restarting. In trying different things I misclicked and now there's another random keyboard Windows has added that's also not listed anywhere and I can't get rid of it.


I even tried changing my region in the hope it would stop Windows from adding the UK keyboard, but it still does it and it randomly changes my region back to my normal one and re-adds a keyboard I've removed. Please tell me there's some way to remove added keyboards in the registry and not just the preloads. Please tell me there's some registry value somewhere to disable Windows from automatically adding keyboards based on your region or whatever stupid criteria it's using. I already tried one that supposedly disabled it based on RDPs but that didn't do anything. This is driving me absolutely crazy.

Cannot remove Keyboard Layout

Remove language from the keyboard

Hi,

I follow all the steps listed here. However, the "Remove" button is not active

How can I activate the button?

Step 1: System
Settings window.

1. Press Windows logo + I keys on the keyboard to open
   Settings page.
2. Click on Time & language from the options and select
   Region & language from the left side panel of the window.
3. Click on the keyboard language you want to remove under Languages and click on
   Remove.
4. Close the window and check if the changes are effective.

 

Remove account

I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
