Windows 10: Can't restore Windows after installing new hard drive

    Can't restore Windows after installing new hard drive


    I have a HP Split 13-m110dx x2 laptop running Windows 10 Home version 1903. Upon startup, I receive a disk error that my solid-state drive was failing. I ordered a new drive same model, backed up my files and created a recovery disk. After swapping out the ssd drive, I inserted the recovery USB. The computer recognizes the USB and starts the recovery process. However, it stops at 92 % and displays the following error: "Reset this PC - There was a problem resetting your PC. No changes were made". I took out the new drive, inserted my old drive it still works and made a new recovery disk. I reinserted the new drive and tried recovery again with the same results. How can I restore my computer?

    Free hard drive backup/restore program?

    I am looking for a free (freeware) program that will back up and restore a hard drive. I'm looking to clone a few external hard drives. If the program will backup the used space instead of the whole drive this will be awesome! Thanks for any suggestions.

    Obviously you're looking for something besides your Xp Pro utility that does this?
