Windows 10: can't run games/apps after windows update.

One day, the first of February, my computer started to update. I knew it would take a while, so I went to do other things. When I came back, the update was finished, but I could see a bunch of error tabs. There was about five. Each one from a different app. They were all saying different things as well. Unable to connect to the internet, the code execution cannot proceed, load error etc.. After this, I tried troubleshooting. I restarted the computer, redownloaded apps, uninstalled the updates, but nothing worked. The weirdest thing is that certain apps still work. Atom works, audacity doesn't. Microsoft teams works, but steam doesn't. Google chrome works, Hamachi doesn't. I could go on for a will because I have a pretty big library of apps and games.


Now I'm trying to see if I need to update windows again, but Windows 10 update says I need to delete VMware Player. I tried using the "uninstall" button, but VMware Player says "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. ADLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.". I also tried manually deleting it , but VMware Workstation 12 Player Setup says the same thing.


Can anybody help?

- When you say 'ive tried troubleshooting', what are you referring to?

- Did you check in compatibility mode?

I suggest to run the game in compatibility mode by following the steps below and check if it helps.

• 
  Right click on the ‘Setup’ icon for the game and click on properties.
  
• 
  Under Compatibility tab, check the option for ‘Run in Compatibility mode’.
  
• 
  Select Windows 8.1 from the drop down list.
  
•
