Windows 10: Can't run Windows 10 on a PC

Hi,


I am trying to upgrade the OS on a touchscreen Panel PC (that mounts on the fascia of a control panel). It is a standard Windows PC that runs Windows 7 fine. I have a Kingston SSD that has Windows 10 pre-installed and licenced. I used a different touchscreen in my office to configure the SSD and load some software onto it that will be running on the machine (it is installed about 400 miles away from where I am based). A similar machine on site can run Windows 10 perfectly well from the same SSD (nothing wrong with the drive or Windows installation on it) but when I install it into this machine, it hangs when trying to boot up. If I re-install the old SSD with Windows 7, runs fine. I have tried doing a clean install of Windows 10 on the machine which seems to install ok, but same problem on bootup.


I've checked the compatibility of the chipset with Windows 10 and all seems ok, I can see that lots of people have raised similar issues on forums etc but can't find a solution that works for me.


A screenshot of System Info for the machine is below, does anyone have any ideas thats spring to mind that I could try please?

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?
