Windows 10: Can't safely eject external hard drive with error message: problem ejecting usb attached...

This happened after updating to the latest windows 11 version 22h2 from windows 11 21h2. There are no apps running.I tried multiple fixes like shutting down and restarting and logging out then in.I tried to use disk management but the options to eject or turn disk offline don't even appear.I ran an antivirus check and there was no malware. I even tried turning the antivrus off to see if it was the cause but the problem stayed.I used resource manager and process explorer and searched for D: D being the letter for my hard drive to see if there was a handle for it but there were no results.If r

Can't eject my external hard drive

Hi , I just bought a new computer and I found a weird error . It has windows 11 pro install and I have the latest version .

I have a lot of usb port , and two in the front . One work but the other can't eject my external hard drive . Let me explain . On the second usb port , it work perfectly but I don't have ANY option to eject the hard drive . The icon in the taskbar , the eject option in the window of the hard drive , right click on the name of the HDD , even in the creation of drive , there are not eject option !!!!! But on the other port it work . Also I have this error only with External Hard drive , when I plug an usb , I have an eject option when the usb open in a new window on the topbar .

This error drive me crazy and I hope you will be able to help me .

 

Problems ejecting a portable hard drive

I have a Lenovo Idea Center desktop running Windows 10 latest release. I use a couple of external hard drives with this PC and one of them is giving me a problem. The drive is one which I removed from a laptop a while back and now have in an USB 3.0

external HDD enclosure. It is is described as a ASMedia ASMT105 Disk Device. The drive works well to store and retrieve my data, the problem shows itself when I try to eject the device from the computer. I always use the "Safely remove hardware and eject
media" utility to perform this procedure, but when I press enter on this particular drive, I have the following message pop up, "---------------------------

---------------------------". There are no other programs running except Windows as I can tell, so what's the problem here? If I restart my computer before trying to eject the drive, then I do not receive the message, but I do not receive the expected "Safe
to remove ..." message either, if I go back to the utility, I see that the drive is no longer showing in the list. Please, can someone offer me an answer as to why this is happening with this one drive and not others? Thanks.
