Windows 10: Can't save a passkey on mobile device. Setup fails on screen unlock verification.

I want to set up a passkey on one of the websites im using. Yes the website has a passkey option.But im met with an issue that prevents me from doing so. Im able to select the device I want to use to create the passkey and start the process and get the prompt on my phone. I press Continue, but right after that, when Im prompted to use my screen unlock method the desktop says that the setup failed.Im unsure what do do about this. Does anyone have a fix?

I'm have a T-Mobile Dash and it's currently on the T-Mobile system. I'm looking to unlock so I can use another service provider. Any suggestions on how I can find the software to unlock the device?

Thanks for your suggestion, but this is a prepaid phone --- no contract. As I said T-Mobile lists the number under an unknown carrier and suggested I contact Microsoft.

Ok, so it is not that you already have that set up and have scanned the QR code using your mobile device, but you've been using security key instead, and now this pop up creates an extra step for you, because you have to click the security key option manually, is that right?

In that case, then no, the website will not be listed in the passkey section. And also there's no way to default the security key over the passkey. I am afraid this is something that will have to go to Feedback hub (Windows +F).
