Can't see my NAS drive from my local network without activating "Function Discovery...

Hi, I have a NAS drive on my local network.

On my main computer (connected through ethernet), it can be found without any problem after activating SMB service. I don't need to activate something more.

For my laptop I have a problem even when activating the SMB service. The device doesn't appear in the "network part" of Windows explorer, but if I manually enter \\Nasname I can access it. I then just need to activate "Function Discovery Resource Publication" service to get it automatically detected.

Where can this difference come from? Does anyone have the same problem?

    :)

  2. Cannot keep Network Discovery Enabled.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the response.

I would suggest that you change the settings in the Firewall to allow Network discovery so that the Firewall stays On while allowing the Network discovery to be enabled.

    Follow the steps.

    a . Open Control panel.

    b. Small icons from the drop down.

    c. Click on Windows Firewall.

    d. Click on Allow programs or feature through Firewall.

    e. Scroll the list and check Network Discovery.

If you need additional assistance then let us know.

  3. Network Discovery.

Network Discovery. I added a USB memory stick to my router (as suggested by Computer Active) I tried to access it from my laptop by trying \\192.168.1.1 (My router default gateway) as suggested in the article. It came back with Network Discovery must be
switched on - - - - - How? Can't find where to switch on or off. Using Windows 10.

Can't access NAS drive after Windows 10 build 1803 installed

    Hello,

After the 1803 Update that turned off SMBv1, I can no longer access the NAS drive on one system. Other computers (Windows 10) and devices (phones and tablets) can access the NAS drive.

    I have done the following:

Network Profile is set to Private.

I altered these services to Automatic (Delayed Start)

    - Function Discovery Provider Host

    - Function Discovery Resourse Publication

    - SSDP Discovery

    - UPnP Device Host

Now, when I click on Network in Explorer, I can actually see my computer and the shared folders, but still can't see the NAS drive. Every oher Win 10 computer can see it. Including, a Win 10 VM I set up on the computer that CAN'T see the NAS drive. So, there
is something set on this computer that is preventing it from seeing this drive. I would rather get some suggestions of what might need to be changed, than Resetting the OS and start over. I have done a Network Reset for both the Ethernet adapter and the WiFi
    adapter. No such luck.

    Thank you,

    Mike
