Windows 10: Can't see my school's wifi networks even if at home it works just fine.

My wifi doesn't show the wireless networks at school even if at home it works fine. I tried many solutions found here and online. At school it displays just some networks that are not useful. All my colleagues can see all the wifi networks without problems.

New school network

I help out looking after the laptops a a local private school. Simple things like checking updates, and basic care which they otherwise wouldn't get. I usually bring them to my home and login to my own wifi. That's worked just fine until a server was installed at the school. Now with the laptops at home I am confronted with a different password login screen which obviously wont work as I am away from the school network. *Mad

Using Lazesoft on a boot usb stick, I could see the built in Administrator account was locked and disabled, so I freed that up. I logged in by selecting "Other User" and entered .\Administrator as the username. Only to find it was using a temporary profile. I then tried to create my own local Admin account (with administrator privileges) only to find that too was a temporary profile.

Any suggestions how to get round this impasse? Please keep it simple as you probably have figured out I don't have much of a clue!

 

Unable to connect to the internet on my school's Wi-Fi network on Windows 10

There is a captive portal login page that must be signed before I get internet access, and that page is not opening because I don't have internet. When I try to open it via the URL, it says "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET" on Chrome and something similar on other browsers.

Important points:

• My Wifi adapter is Realtek RTL8723DE
  
• It works fine on all other Wifi networks than my school network
  
• All my other devices work fine on the school network and the captive portal opens
  
• I used to be able to connect to the internet on the school network on my PC earlier as well, I can't think of any hardware or software change on my part that has triggered this issue.
  
• My school network is protected by WPA2, and I have the password and can connect to the Wifi network without issues, but it says "No Internet".
  

What I've already tried:

• Restarting my pc
  
• Making sure my Wifi drivers are up to date
  
• Opening an http:// site without ssl, still says no internet
  
• Opening the captive portal URL(I know it) on many different browsers.
  
• Getting in touch with the school network admin, not helpful
  

 

Problem with logging onto Corporate WiFi Networks (the rest is fine)


I suggest you "forget" the WiFi network before trying any more, start from scratch.

Go to Settings > Network & Internet > WiFi > Manage WiFi settings:




At the bottom of the page, select the company WiFi network and click Forget:




Now reboot and try again.
