  1. Can't select other partition in "Change where new content is saved" (0x80070005)

The issue is connected to Xbox Beta app. At least it originated there and spread.

I have one HDD drive split to two partitions (C - system, D - the rest). I decided to move the games from Xbox Beta app to drive D. I've changed it succesfully, but in the process my drive was renamed to E, and new files were created on it (like Program files and such). Those files were locked from me - Administrator privileges weren't enough. Access denied.

Today Gears of War game stopped working correctly, whats more issues with Windows 10 Home 64bit piled so high the system barely woked. So I deceided to format system (partition C). After that I was no longer able to remove those files or connect them back to Xbox beta app. Whenever I tried to select E/ former D drive, it prompted me to change this option in Windows settings ("Change where new content is saved")... but the drive D/E is unselectable.

Whenever I try to select it, an error occurs - 0x80070005. I then formatted whole D/E partition but it didn't help. When I try select drive D/E, windows creates empty Windows App folder.

I tried to change privacy/security settings and set myself or system as owner of the drive E/D. This doesn't help either, an error occurs. Funny thing is that the error occurs only for "New Applications" in "Change where new content is saved".

    :)

  3. Change where new content is saved.

    Hello Martin,

We apologize for the late reply.

Windows 10 lets you easily change the default Save location for Documents, Music, Picture and Video files. For steps on how to organize your preferred setting, follow these steps:

    • Open Start Menu.
    • Click Settings, then System settings.
    • Click on Storage in the left pane.
    • Scroll down a bit and find Save locations.
    • There you will see New documents will save to setting and similar settings for Music, Pictures & Videos.
    • Select the location from the drop-down menu.

For Windows 10 Creators Update v1703, you need to navigate as follows:

    Settings > System > Storage
    > Change where new content is saved.

Tip: If you are suffering from the low space issues after upgrading, you can use these technique to move Documents and other personal folders from the default system drive to another drive.

Feel free to post back if further assistance is needed.

Can't select other partition in "Change where new content is saved" (0x80070005)

    W7 Hard drive partition issue

to get rid of that 100 meg windows partition that setup creates for you on a new install on a blank hdd:

    - press shift+f10 when on the partition management screen in setup <-- this opens a command prompt
    - diskpart <-- start the windows command line partition management tool
    - list disk <--- list the installed hdds in this computer for the next step
    - select disk 0 <- might have to replace 0 with the number of the correct disk
    - clean <-- this will erase all data on the disk you selected one step up- dont use the wrong disk!
    - create partition primary <- creates a primary partition taking up all space on the drive, adjust the command if necessary
    - exit, exit to exit diskpart and the command prompt
    - click refresh in partition manager and select your newly created partition and install to that
