  1. Can't set proper resolution

Guys, i would really appreciate your help

Im a newbie with windows and i have recently purchased a windows 10 connect tablet. When i got into the display settings all my resolution options are greyed out and i can't change anything.

I connected the tablet to my hdtv which has an output resolution of 1920x1080 according to the net. The options then become available in the display settings where i can change the resolution but the max i can get is 1280x800 therefore i get black borders around the image.

Sorry for my ignorance but I have read all the above and i still can't understand it. i had an intel device driver there but changed it to basic display in device manager. now when i go to switch back to intel its no longer in the list in device manager. Will other drivers work on this tablet?

In a nutshell i just want to get 1920x1080 resolution on my windows 10 connect tablet so that when i plug into my tv there are no borders. If the display resolutions match then it fits right? Tried the nvidia app but can't find devices.

Sorry again but I am at a loss and all the technical jargon above overwhelms me !

    Thanks in advance

    :)

  2. Display suddenly switched to wrong resolution

My Windows 10 display suddenly turned everything large; wrong resolution, and I can't fix it under display settings, which are at the proper settings. Every article about this says go to advanced settings, but my Windows 10 version no longer has "advanced
settings". I'm at a complete loss as to how to return to the proper resolution.

  3. Proper display resolution not found in settings

The display width is distorted. Circles appear as ovals.

the proper resolution setting is 1366x768

but recommended in settings is 1024x768. the only other setting available is 800x600

    drivers are up to date

The trouble started after installing apple quicktime.

    restarting didn't fix the problem

uninstalled quicktime and restarted still have the problem

My laptop is an old Toshiba satellite C655D

OS is Windows 10 which is up to date

The Toshiba site doesn't list divers for this laptop and OS

    Can't set proper resolution

To start, you'll have to reinstall the Intel driver for the graphics. The basic version is just that, only good enough for basic usage of the machine. Other drivers probably won't work, have to be for the specific adapter. If can't find on the machine maker's site will usually have to do a Factory Restore.

  5. well this will give you guys a good giggle. read on a site that if you delete the driver in device manage and then restart it will reinstall the driver upon restart. stupidly i deleted the "basic display " driver and now it wont show anything or boot up. this stuff is way out my league.

  6. ok. its back ! the intel HD driver has reinstalled and i go to display settings and the highest i have is 1280x800.
can i install another display driver or does it have to use the the intel HD driver ? i am unsure how this works as i am trying to get 1920x1080.

Ive just checked that the windows 10 connect tablet has display res of 1280x800. So I'm guessing this is the maximum resolution available on it? If this is the case does anyone know how i can get it to display on full screen on a Sanyo LCE32FH08N-B hdtv? can't find anything on the setting on the tv.

    thanks

    I have a Laptop and Intel HD 4600 Graphics and the Laptop screen is on 1366 x 768 and I can connect a 1920 x 1080 monitor no problem at all, and indeed a 1366 x 768 TV or a 1920 x 1080 TV again no problem.

No idea about Tablets, but I can just right click on the Desktop > Graphics Properties... > Display.
This is the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel.
    1) General Settings.
    2) Multiple Displays.
You should find in there the other Monitor/TV listed in the drop down boxes with different resolutions listed.
You should have various options like Duplicate, Extended, Tablet screen, second screen only etc. If they are different resolutions a different sized graphic.

You should also be able to use the Notification Area > Project options. Same thing just another route once setup.

    Can't set proper resolution

I wonder whether TVs can upscale 1280 X 800 properly. The 16:10 aspect ratio may not help (TV is 16:9).

  9. Hi guys

i want to thank you for your advice on the issue that i had. In the end what i had to do was go to the display settings while plugged into the tv and go to the "extend screen" option.

The only issue i have is that when you hit the "extend screen" option the screen turned off on my tablet so i had to tap the right part of the tablet screen without actually seeing what i was hitting. i had to look at the tv screen to see what i was selecting which made it somewhat awkward. If anyone knows how to get around this then great.

Luckily once the "extended screen" was selected the 1900x1080 option was there so i could have a full screen image with no black borders. "blind" tapping aside on the tablet, i got the result i wanted.

many thanks and i hope this helps other members with similar issues
