Windows 10: Can't Shut Down Windows 10 because Task Host is stopping background tasks

    Can't Shut Down Windows 10 because Task Host is stopping background tasks


    I run into this all the time with Windows 10. Usually, I am forced to click "Shut down anyway" - but, I feel that's "bad" to do. I really don't know.

    Task Host is stopping background task

    Recently, using Windows 10, when I power off I get the Task Host Window.

    Message: Task Host is stopping background task (\Microsoft\Windows\DeviceDirectoryClient\RegisterUserDevice)

    I have to click Shut Down Anyway.

    Don't know if this is a "feature" of the last update, but have seen the shutdown bug posted for older O/S..

    What is the fix?

    Task Host is stopping background tasks : message at shut down

    Why is it, at shutdown, the following message is displayed:

    "Task Host is stopping background tasks"

    Then when I click on "Shut down anyway" only then that my PC shuts down. Is there any way to stop this happening?

    Task Host is stopping background tasks.

    Task Host is stopping background tasks. It will not let Win 10 do normal updates.

    Anybody have any answers?
