    Can’t sign in on the start up screen


    Hey there! So yesterday my PC was working as normal. Today I went on and when I get to the start up screen when I usually enter my pin. It actually just has my account name, picture and a sign in button. I click the sign in button but it brings up a quick box and then closes. I genuinely can’t access my PC at all. I’ve tried going into safe mode, I’ve tried start up fix, I can’t even get those to work or help me. Is there any to fix this?

    It's possible that the option to show a background picture on your sign-in screen is disabled that's why
    Windows Spotlight is not showing there. To provide the best solution to the issue, we'd like to isolate it first by asking a few questions:

    • Were there any changes made on your computer settings prior to this issue?
    • What are the troubleshooting steps that you've tried so far?
    • Which Windows 10 version and build is currently installed on your computer? To check, click the
      Start > Settings > System >

    Meanwhile, we suggest that you perform the steps below to enable the background picture on your sign-in screen:

    • Click Start > Settings.
    • Go to Personalization > Lock Screen.

    5 min delay on cold start between login screen and bg screen

    One more thing to be considered; black screen 5 minutes after signing in only occurs with my admin sign in account; my wife signs in in a split second with her non admin account. So admin sign in account should be limited to solve this.

    I would suggest you to try the following steps:




    • Click Start icon and click Settings

    • Choose Personalization, click on Start

    • Turn on “Use start full screen”
