Windows 10: Can't sign in to my Microsoft account on Windows 10

For some reason I can't sign into my primary Microsoft account on any windows apps (Microsoft Store, Xbox, Mail, etc). For example if I try to sign in on the store it says "We've encountered an error. Please try again later. Trying to add the email in my settings under "Accounts used by other apps" results in an endless loading screen.

It's still signed in as the administrator account, but that's it. The strange thing is I have no issue signing in with other Microsoft accounts on all these apps, just this one in particular. So it's a problem with this specific account?

On top of that, I can still access the account as normal through a browser (Microsoft's site, outlook, etc). It's only an issue on the local computer and it's apps.


Nothing I found online could fix my problem. It's only been an issue in the past couple days, after purchasing Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.


The game pass is tied to this account so I need to fix this asap. Please help! Thanks

Windows 10 Tweaks

As you may already know, Windows 10 (as well as Windows 8) allow you to log in with a valid Microsoft account, instead of creating a local account that only works on your machine. However, you may prefer to keep a local account for privacy reasons. If you do, though, some Windows 10 features—like Cortana—may not work. Despite the default behavior, the Windows 10 Store is not one of them. You can still log in to your Microsoft account for just the Store without switching to a full Microsoft account. The process, however, is not terribly obvious. To do so, follow these steps:

• Launch the Store from your Start menu.
• Click the user icon next to the search box.
• Click “Sign-in” from the menu that appears.
• Choose “Microsoft account” and log in like normal.
• When the “Make it yours” box appears do not enter your password. Instead, click “Sign in to just this app instead.”

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

• Is this the only account on the computer?
• Was this account upgraded from previous version of Windows?

It looks like you are using a local account. I suggest you follow these steps:

• Click on search in taskbar and type account.
• Click on Accounts.
• Now, under Your account, click on Sign in with Microsoft account instead.
• Enter your Local account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
• Enter User name credentials for your the new Microsoft account and click OK.

Creating or signing in to microsoft account

The error code that your are getting when adding an account is usually caused by the following:

• Your phone has an incorrect date and time set.
• You do not have a data connection.
• Your phone is in a "bad state."
