Windows 10: Can't sign in with new password. (Little more complicated though.)

So, I was having trouble with bluescreens and I traced it back to having driver issues. I ran the driver check, got the driver check blue screen and then was put into the automatic repair screen. In order to continue I needed to sign in, but I had forgot my password, so I go to my account in my phone and I reset my password but when I try to put in the new password it tells me that the password is incorrect. This wouldn't be such a problem if I could get back into my pc but every time I restart my pc it blue screens due to the driver check and brings me right back to the auto repair page a.k.a where I need to sign in, creating a loop.


I've tried all the old passwords I can remember and I have no clue what to do now. Any help would be very appreciated.


P.S. While I realize that a reinstall of windows might be a solution I would like to keep that as a last resort because I have many important files and large games that would be a pain to recover.

About your concern with typing the password after being idle, it is actually recommended to activate for security reasons.

If you wish to disable it, I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Settings.
• Click on Accounts.
• Click on Sign in options.
• On the right side, you will see required sign in.
• Change it to Never.

If you are using Microsoft account to login to Windows 10, there is no option to disable the password and sign in to Windows 10 directly without entering password.

Step 1:

If you are using Local account to login to Windows 10, you can disable the password and sign in to Windows 10 directly without entering password. Follow the below steps if you use Local account.

• 
  Press Windows + I keys to open
  settings menu.
  
• 
  Click on Accounts.
  
• 
  Click on Sign in options.
  
• 
  Click on Change under Change your account password.
  
• 
  Enter your current password and leave the other two files for new password as empty and close the windows by clicking on
  OK button.

  Sign out and try to sign in again and check.
  

Step 2:

You may also create the 4 digit PIN which will reduce your time to enter full password. Follow the below steps.

• 
  Press Windows + I keys to open
  settings menu.
  
• 
  Click on Accounts.

  Click on Sign in options.
  
• 
  Click on Add under PIN.
  
• 
  Follow the onscreen instructions to create Pin.
  
• 
  Sign out and try to sign in again using PIN as your Sign in option.
