Windows 10: Can't sign into the microsoft store app - works fine in browser.

I'm having trouble signing into the Microsoft store.


Initially I was trying to set up my Xbox app but when signing in I keep getting the following error: "A specified logon session does note exist. It may already have been terminated"


I tried reinstalling the Microsoft Identity Provider however I need to sign into the Windows store to do this. No matter what I try though whenever I attempt to sign into the windows store I get the following error: "We encountered an error, Please try signing in again later"

These errors have been persisting for about a month now as I initially tried when Gears 5 launched. I can play Gears 5 and log into my xbox account through steam but not through the Windows app.

Windows is up to date as are all relevant apps, Windows is correctly activated as well and I have no trouble logging into my microsoft account through a browser. It only appears to be through the windows apps that I cannot log in.

Is there any solution to this that does not require me to reinstall the operating system?

How to run apps that are downloaded from Microsoft app store on multiple PCs without downloading multiple times.

 

Microsoft Store app not working

When I attempt to run the Microsoft Store app the blue box with a Windows shopping bag icon show for a few seconds then disappears.

I have tried the remedies suggested in post in this forum:

• ran WSreset.exe
• ran INETCPL.CPL to ensure no LAN proxy
• ran Troubleshoot
• sign on as local users - I then had to go through the rigmarole of getting my Microsoft account back!
• rebooted and started again

All other apps run just fine

MS Store runs on another PC but, of course, there is no way to transfer apps between PCs

Any suggestion gladly received

There's a possibility that you are currently signed in on your computer using your local account. For us to sort this out, we suggest that you sign in with your Microsoft account instead. Follow these steps:

• Open Settings > Accounts > Your email and accounts.
• Select Sign in with a Microsoft account instead.
• Follow the on-screen instructions.

Once signed in with your Microsoft account on your computer, try signing into the Windows Store app.

Update us with the result.
