Windows 10: Can't start the laptop because of the blue screen

Hello


I woke up this morning to no sound on my laptop. I checked and found that windows updated last night. In the hope of fixing the sound issue, I installed all the pending updates. During one of such updates, I got stuck on the blue screen with stop code "Critical Process Died". Contacted Microsoft and they asked me to do several things and everything failed. These actions, in order, were:

1. Start the automatic repair.

2. Scannow from the Cmd Prompt. Didn't help.

3. System restore. Couldn't click "next" when asked which drive to restore.

4. System Reset. The system couldn't perform restore.

5. Asked me to convert USB to windows drive. Did that, and clicked "repair". Didn't help.

6. He said now the only option left is Re-install the windows and lose all the data.


My problem is I don't want to lose the data. I usually back-up on my external hard-drive, but didn't do it for the last week. There are some files on the SSD and the HDD that I need.

Laptop with broken screen How much?

I would like suggestions and look in local stores. I dont wanna buy a laptop from someone online. Sorry. But could be a good idea if you asked him about the performance on older games. Gonna make a list ofall laptops people suggest me.

Remove the screen for space purpose here its small desk and if the screen is opened it will hide my 22 inches lcd

Hi all, Please bear with me as I'm not very computer literate lol!
My daughters laptop (old dell c400) just went to a blue screen when starting up! Anyway,was told to re-load windows disc. However there's no cd drive or floppy drive!
Found an old external floppy drive but don't have windows on floppy!
Also ran diognostics and it passed everything until it came to DST SHORT STATUS TEST,then came up failed! Any suggestions or is it a brick?*Bang Head :banghead:
