Windows 10: Can't switch accounts when logging into Minecraft Launcher

I used to share an account for Minecraft with my friend, but now I bought Minecraft, so I'm logging into it now. I keep trying and trying.. yet it doesn't work. It keeps telling me to use the password for my friends account, and he changed the password, so I can't use the Minecraft Launcher instead of using custom Minecraft launchers.And I don't like using other launchers, as it might put my account at risk.I've tried deleting the launcher and re-installing, and also deleted the Xbox app. Nothing has worked.Please help me!

Unable to switch accounts in Minecraft Launcher

Hello. I currently have an issue where the Minecraft Launcher will automatically ask me to sign into the account I use for Windows. This account does not own Minecraft, and so I need to switch accounts. When I press the "Switch Account" button, a brief white window opens and immediately closes, and nothing else happens.

I have tried:

- Reinstalling the launcher

- Logging out of all Microsoft related apps, and trying to log in as the other account only to find the same error

- Resetting and Repairing the Xbox app and the Gaming Services app

Help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

 

Problem with the minecraft launcher.

There are many reasons why you can't log in to Minecraft Launcher, but all of them are due to Microsoft Store and related services. I will provide several methods to try to solve this problem, please refer to the following steps for operation:

• Clear the cache on Microsoft Store.
  

1. Press the Windows logo key + R, type wsreset.exe, and select OK.
   
2. After a few seconds a blank command prompt window will appear, which will disappear after about ten seconds and the Microsoft Store will open automatically.This means the cache was cleared successfully.
   

• Make sure you're using the Microsoft Store Install Service.
  

1. Services.msc can be found by pressing Windows Key + S and typing services.msc.
   
2. Locate and double-click the Microsoft Store Install Service; if the status is Running, right-click it and select Restart.
   
3. Change it to Automatic if it's disabled, then click Start and OK.
   

• Reinstall the Microsoft Store app
  

1. Press Windows key + X
   
   Click and Run Windows PowerShell(run as Administrator)Copy and paste the command below then hit Enter:
   
   

• Reinstall the Minecraft Launcher
  

1. Click Start >Settings >Apps，find "Minecraft Launcher" in all apps.
   
2. Click on the "Minecraft Launcher" Advanced options >Uninstall the application.
   
3. Open the Microsoft Store, search for "Minecraft Launcher", download and install it again, and log in to your account to see if it works.

Unable to switch accounts in Minecraft Launcher

Hi Jaspreet,

I have tried logging into the Xbox app with my other account, it leads to the exact same error. Pressing the "Switch Account" button leads to the same issue with the Minecraft launcher. A white box briefly appears on the screen before closing.

After signing out of the Xbox app, upon trying to sign in again, it just pops up with the same screen, my Windows account being automatically used to sign in, and the switch account button still not working.
