Windows 10: Can't switch between sound devices anymore.

Hello,I have Asus X55C running Windows 10 latest build and I noticed a problem that I can't switch between my Earphones connected at the headphone jack and the in-built speakers of laptop. If I want to switch them then I have to remove my earphones from the headphone jack. I was able to do it 2-3 months ago or even its before but now my speakers on the taskbar looks like this :- You can see that the its only showing my earphones and I cannot switch to the laptop speaker when my earphones are connected.Thankyou.

Sound devices automatically switching off

1. Are you aware of any changes made to the PC prior to which you weren’t facing this issue?
   
2. What is the make and model of the PC?
   
3. How the audio device is connected to the PC?
   
4. Which audio device are you using?
   
5. Does the issue occur with all the audio devices connected to the PC or with any particular device?

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

 

Switching sound between devices

Hi,

In order for you to use one audio device for all sounds including calls, you must set your audio device as the default communication device which in your case, is your headphones. To do that, follow the steps below:

• Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray, then click Playback devices.
• Right-click your headphones and select Set as default communication device.
• Click Apply, then OK to save the changes.
