Windows 10: Can't switch Microsoft accounts within apps

When I first used my Microsoft apps such as the xbox app that you can download from the Microsoft store, it worked perfectly and allowed me to switch accounts between my one with game pass and the one without. Now I have tried to link my phone to my pc and the your phone app is stuck on the wrong Microsoft account, whenever I click switch account it opens and then immediately closes the tab that allows you to switch. After this I tried switching accounts using other Microsoft apps such as the xbox app and the store itself but it has the same issue with it opening the tab and then closing the t

I see what you mean about the password but i think its a backward step to compromise my Microsoft password to to use the app store

It's quite easy in fact, simply switch the account in question first to a local account, then switch back to a Microsoft account, this time using your wife's MS account credentials.

Notice that before doing this you need to remove the new additional MS account on the PC, the one you created with her credentials. Windows allows only one user account for each email address, if the new account exists you cannot switch the original administrator account to an MS account using the same email address. Trying to switch to Microsoft account from local, unable to...

I tried that, more than once. I go thru the complete procedure of getting a new Microsoft account password, then when I reach the final step to key in the Windows password, I try my NEW Microsoft account password, and I get the same message-invalid password. No luck.

Any other suggestions.
