Windows 10: Can't Update Multiple Cumulative Updates Undoing Changes and Other Performance Issues -...

I have an ASUS X455LD with Core i5 and NVIDIA 820M


I updated my windows 10 to 2004 from 1909 through the Windows 10 Update Assistant since I also received the undoing changes error as well. Upon updating, I didn't receive any other errors until update KB4565503. It was listed as installed on my system but it keeps on downloading the update and when the system reboots, the undoing changes message showed up. Tried uninstalling the update and then installing again through windows update and manually downloading it through the update catalog but none of them worked. I later paused windows update for a while.


After a few weeks of using 2004, I experienced lags on games that didn't exist before updating i.e. League of Legends had frequent FPS drops on the lowest settings. I also experienced spiking audio latency Conexant SmartAudio which I monitored on LatencyMon. After browsing the internet, I figured out that an NVIDIA related issue was fixed on KB4568831. So I turned on the windows update and attempted to download the update and it didn't work. The same undoing changes error came up on restart, even manually.


Same thing happens with KB4566782, but now both KB4565503 and KB4568831 are not installed in my system and they are not available in the windows update somehow. Tried dism, sfc, deleting softwaredistribution again and again. None of them worked.


Also, I migrated my OS to a critical SSD, which is why I am not taking resetting windows as an option. If anyone knows how to fix this, please help me out. Thank you.

Window Update Undoing changes made to your computer issue

In order to help you with the appropriate troubleshooting steps, pleas reply with the details requested below:

• Do you receive any error message after Windows update?
  
• May I know after which update do you see this message?
  
• When you say, “this message appear about half and hour" does the computer boot to the desktop?
  
• What is the make and model of the computer?
  

If the computer doesn’t boot to the Desktop, I would suggest you to refer the suggestions provided by DaveM121 replied on April 7, 2019 in the thread

'Undoing changes made to your computer' in Windows 10.



If you are able to boot the computer to the Desktop, I would suggest you to run the

Windows Update Troubleshooter and see if that helps.



If the issue persists, I would suggest you to reset Windows Update components. Kindly refer the article by Sumit on

How to:Reset Windows update components in Windows.



You may also want to refer the steps mentioned in the article

Note: While performing chkdsk on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found on the hard drive when chkdsk tries to repair that sector if any data available on that might be lost. Also, the last step in the article
talks about Clean installation, please do not perform a clean installation of Windows.

I suggest you to run the Windows Update troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Update. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Windows update.

Refer these steps:

• 
  Press Windows key +X, select
  Control panel.
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the
  top right to Large icons.
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the
  view all option on the left panel.
  
• 
  Run the Windows Update troubleshooter.
