Windows 10: Can't update Windows 10 using the Media Creation Tool

Hi,

My pc is having some stability problems. Using a Seagate tool I have verified that the hard drives don't have problems. I have used sfc/scannow, which reports that some system files are corrupt, but it cannot fix them. It does not say what then to do.

I was told to run an update/repair of Windows 10 using the Media Creation Tool, but it fails with the message "This tool can't update your PC. The language or edition of the version of Windows that is currently installed on your PC isn't supported by this tool."

I find this weird.

My pc is a standard Intel NUC with 8 GB RAM.

My Windows version is 10 Pro English, fully updated to version 1803, OS build 17134.137.

I have no language packs installed - it's only plain English.

The only special thing is that the computer has no keyboard and screen connected, as it acts as a server. I am using RDP to operate it.


What can I do? I would prefer to be able to run the update using the MCT, as I would really like to save myself for the trouble of reinstalling everything from scratch. Any help would be appreciated.

You might face this issue if the downloaded setup file is corrupted.

• Did you try to download the setup again?
• Did you try to upgrade through Windows Update?

First, I would suggest you to try updating through Windows Update and check if you are able to upgrade to Windows 10. If you are unable to upgrade through Windows Update, then I would suggest you to download the Windows 10 ISO again and save it locally
on the desktop and then try to run the upgrade.
