Windows 10: Can't update windows or anything to do with internet connection apart from browser

HelloI have a problem with my pc that I can't make anything work that needs connection to internet apart from the browser. Windows update does not work, any update on Microsoft store does not work.I started to notice the problem as I couldn't connect to some platforms that i use normally like EA, Ubisoft Connect, Steam wouldn't update the games, Xbox wouldn't update games, so i tried some troubleshooting that i found online but nothing worked. Reset my computer and still the same, now can't even install the apps.Can someone please help?

W10 can connect to wider internet but cannot access web pages

I have an odd issue with my W10 laptop linked to Sky broadband in the UK via wifi using a Sky router. The effect is that while I can actually access the internet (I can send and receive emails using Outlook and can connect to other machines using TeamViewer) I cannot access any web site (Google, BBC etc). There is no specific error message, merely that the access request timed out and a suggestion that it may be to do with proxy.

I have tried the following:

1. Other systems (W10 and ios) can access web sites using the same Sky router (therefore probably not a router problem)
2. I have sent and received emails using Outlook, so the broadband connection is working (probably not a Sky problem)
3. I have tried two different browsers (Firefox and Edge), no connection (not a browser problem)
4. I am using Windows Defender and have:
   1. Made sure that Firefox is in the list of allowed systems in its Firewall, no connection after a reboot
   2. Turned off the Firewall and tried again - no connection

My next step will be to re-install Windows, but has anyone got any other suggestions? Could it be some sort of virus (I have carried out a complete virus check using Defender)

• In which browser are you facing this issue e.g. Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer?

Multiple browsers: Chrome, Explorer, Firefox

• Do you get any error message?
  • In Chrome, I get "ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE" as the error message
• Have you installed all pending Windows updates?
  • Yes. It is continuously getting updated.

• Do you face connection fluctuation in Ethernet connection?
  • No. The internet connection is a solid 40Mb downlink. The same problem occurs when I'm hooked to a different internet service provider.

• Is the issue specific to any particular website?
  • No, it occurs when I'm accessing multiple web sites. It is not related to any web site.

I suggest you to try connecting to Ethernet connection and check if face same issue.

The problem occurs when I'm using wired ethernet, an internal wifi card, or an external wifi usb dongle.

Also install all pending Windows updates I.

I just checked it . It is up to date.

I'm not going to spend time on these other steps, since as I mentioned it occurs on multiple browsers, and it is not tied to Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge, unless you give me a good reason to do so.

Except edge browser,nothing else is getting connected to the Internet

Except Microsoft edge browser, nothing else is getting connected to the internet on my windows 10. I tried to browse web on google chrome and Mozilla firefox but they both display the message "could not connect to the internet". Apart from that, I can't
update apps from windows store and I am not able to update windows defender also. I tried downloading the trail version of bit defender but it is also not able to connect to the internet.

Please suggest something...
