Can't upgrade boot drive without losing activation no other changes

I have an old Intel 8 series chipset PC. Custom build, Asus board, with an OEM Windows 7 Pro license. It was upgraded to Windows 10, and then 11 over the years. It is linked to my microsoft account. Recently, I upgraded the boot drive from a SATA platter to an NVME via PCIE adapter. However, I get hardware error 0xc004f211, hardware change, and lose activation on the NVME. If I revert back to the HDD, it recognizes the digital license and activates. But when I switch to the NVME whether under win 11 or 10, whether a imaged backup or a new install it reports the hardware change error if

  2. Wiped Hard Drive Can't Boot Vista

I did try every possible boot order and even with deactivated options, which I don't even know how or if that is helpful. I will try the Vista possibilities. The OS was listed in the BIOS, whatever that means, and it said it was a factory version, which I think is a good thing.

The PXE error messages may have occurred when I activated the network adapter and tried that in the boot order. Obviously, I am in way over my head. Thanks for the suggestions!

  3. BOOT-DRIVE CHANGE FOR WINDOWS10

According to my experience you will have a problem activating Windows again... Windows 10 activation system stores your hardware signatures on a Microsoft sever so change of hardware might direct you lose your Genuine License...

The best way to get back your genuine copy would be informing the closest microsoft services or via email/chat that there is a hardware change on your system.....

    Hope this Helps!

    Can't boot from DVD drive

Is your controller in RAID/AHCI modes? If so, the DVD drive will be listed as a separate device in the list of available boot devices, not as "CDROM". Remember that when setting boot device priority. Otherwise, read the manual to see which hotkey during POST brings up the boot menu that lets you select which device to boot from. Even here, the drive will be listed separately, and not as "CDROM".
