    Can't Upgrade to Windows 10 1909.

    Greetings!

I am looking for some guidance for an issue I'm having with upgrading from Windows 10 1809 to 1909. My laptop keeps trying to do the upgrade, and it's failing every time. It will go through a lengthy download and install process, but when my laptop restarts, it crashes very early in the process. My laptop is very hot when it does this.

The first several times it was trying to do the upgrade, my laptop would restart and crash at 2%. Every time. The error message that I would find in Windows Update associated with the attempted upgrade is 0x80070057. After the laptop crashed, I would restart it after it cooled down, and it would say 'Undoing Changes Made To This Computer' on a black screen. Then, after the my laptop was operational again, it would restart the download process all over again in Windows Update.

After a few times of this, I went looking through the Microsoft support forums for some help. I found some suggestions that a few helpful people said would work, but they didn't. Most of those suggestions involved opening Command Prompt as an admin and going through a process that involves an SFC Scan. I did multiples of those, but the upgrade still failed at the same point as usual.

I came back to the Microsoft forums looking again. I found a suggestion from someone else's post with the same problem to use a Media Creation Tool, and let that do the upgrade. I tried it, and it was looking very promising. Like, really promising compared to previous attempts. But, once my laptop did it's first restart, it crashed again. This time it said 0% on the screen when it crashed. My laptop was very hot once again. After it undid changes made, and I was able to use my laptop again, there was a message that popped up on the screen that said "Installation Failed In FIRST_BOOT phase with error during BEGIN_FIRST_BOOT operation". Windows update error messages were - 0xC1900101-0x3001A, and 0x800704c7.

I'm getting tired of this. I really don't want the upgrade to 1909, and I would love for my laptop to stop trying, but Windows seems insistent on making me get it. Any solutions to this problem would be greatly appreciated!

I'm using a DELL Inspiron 7720, if that helps.

    :)

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:
    • Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
    • Try different keyboard or mouse.
    • Restart computer, repeatedly.
    • Google for related issues.
    • Update Bios, because why not.
    • Create boot media and revert to windows 7.
The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.

  3. Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

    Steps to confirm issue:

    • Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
    • Secondary drive not visible in device manager
    • Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

    Steps to replicate issue:

    • Installing 1909 update

    Steps to resolve issue:

    • Uninstall 1909 update

Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

i've seen this when the stock USB drivers went kaput. Only ever seen it once - i used a PCI USB 2.0 card and connected the mouse and keyboard to that, and manually updated the USB 2/USB 3 drivers.
