Windows 10: Canvasbio fingerprint scanner not working, update won't install it back

I have a Samsung Galaxy Book Flex Alpha. I saw the same topic on here by someone else. The reply said to uninstall the biometric driver from device manager, then run windows update and the update will find it and reinstall the driver. That didn't work. Samsung update didn't work.Is there anything I can do besides system restore? Thanks.

Fingerprint Scanner Not Working

To resolve this issue try the following steps:

• 
  Have you updated the driver for the Finger Print scanner? If not, check on the manufacturer’s website (HP).
  
• 
  Check if installing the latest driver of the fingerprint scanner allows you to login using a Microsoft Account?
  

This issue might occur due to driver incompatibility since upgrading to Windows 10.



If you have the raw executable file of the corresponding driver for the validity sensor, I would suggest you to install the downloaded driver file in compatible mode with Windows 7 or 8. Refer to the following steps to do so.

• 
  Right click on the driver, and click on Properties.
  
• 
  Go to the Compatibility tab.
  
• 
  Check the box for Run this program in compatibility mode for:
  
• 
  Select Windows 7 in the list of Operating systems.
  
• 
  Click OK.
  
• 
  Double-click the driver file to install the driver and follow the onscreen instructions.
  
• 
  Reboot your computer.

CanvasBio Fingerprint Scanner Driver Issues - Samsung Laptop with Windows 11

Hello!

I've done a lot of research on this topic already, and I still am hitting a wall. I hope someone here can help.

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Book Flex2 Alpha, 13". I have windows 11 version 22H2. I have been running windows 11 for almost a year exactly, so this is not a new operating system for me.

However, my fingerprint scanner has all the sudden stopped working in the past week. It worked just fine, consistently, for months but then all the sudden stopped. When I first started doing research, everyone told me to check my driver.

I have the CanvasBio Biometrics driver, but there is an orange exclamation point over the driver icon. When I right click and try to update the driver, I am told that my windows is up to date. I tried uninstalling the driver all together and letting Windows update it that way (as was suggested on another board), but that didn't fix the issue. Windows did reinstall the driver, but it still doesn't work.

I have also tried to uninstall and go reinstall from the samsung website but surprise! Samsung doesn't have drivers listed for my laptop model. So that's a dead end too.

Also - another solution that was suggested was to delete the finger prints and re-add them. I don't even have that option - when I go to my settings, the "option is unavailable" under Windows Hello. I'm not even able to change my PIN, which is really annoying since that's how I have to log in now.

My ultimate question is: do I have to use this specific driver? Can I install a similar driver and it be compatible with my scanner? The fingerprint scanner is imbedded in the laptop keyboard, so I can't change that.

I really want to be able to use my fingerprint scanner if I can. Not only is it a much more convenient way to log into my computer, but I also have some websites set up to use my fingerprint and that's way better for me than a password manager.

Any help is appreciated! Also - one last thing - yes, this question has been posted before, but those answers are old. I'm hoping for some 2023 solutions, not 2018 solutions.

Fingerprint scanner

I updated windows, now my fingerprint scanner doesn't work. I tried everything help suggested. The fingerprint scanner just doesn't do anything anymore.
