Windows 10: CAPI12 Error ID 4176 - Shutdown

I've had a new issue lately when starting the game " The Outer Worlds " : My pc shuts down completely, instantly like not properly, it's really just a black screen, my fans going full blast, and suddenly, the pc is off. I've checked the event journal of Windows, and while I'm unsure if it is related, I do have a repeated error message there FX operation failed as AuthSafes count doesn't lie in expected range. Maximum permissible value: 200. Erroneous value: 275. The erroneous value is always around 270. T

Critical error Event ID 41 after every shutdown and bootup.


I have done what you said, and I still receive the same error. It can happen once a day, once a week, or several times in the same day.

The computer only lists the error after shutdown, My PC does not loose power during normal usage. From a bystander`s
perspective everything is ok.

What I am asking is this: Does windows lists the error as a false positive ? Or does the PC actually somehow looses power during shutdown ?

 

IDE Channel Problem?

Go to device manager.

• Change driver on IDE to "Standard IDE driver", for both channels.
• Shutdown.
• Disconnet (temporarily the CD and DVD devices)
• Reboot.
• After reboot, install Intel Chipset Utility for 865 chipset.
• Is it working?

 

S.M.A.R.T. Error on boot

OK so I did what TRWOW suggested and it still didn't work. I decided to reflash the BIOS with the HDD with errors unplugged. After flashing it again, I shutdown the PC and plugged the HDD back again and voila, no errors. I shutdown the PC after a few minutes and turned it on again and no more S.M.A.R.T. Errors.
