Windows 10: Caps lock behaving weirdly in Windows 10

It's been for a while now, but the caps lock key doesn't work on Windows desktop. It does work in games if they run full screen, though it doesn't turn the indicator light on and off as it used to. It also works on a non-Windows OS. Using the on-screen keyboard and the caps lock key there, works as expected.Changing settings on the advanced keyboard settings doesn't solve the issue.I have not touched the registryScroll lock has the same issue, but I don't use it most of the time, so it's not a problem. Just adding it here in case it helps diagnosing the issue.Does anyone have an idea what to d

This is likely to be one of those where, as I don't know what you've already tried, I'll have spent time suggesting what you have tried. That's why I asked for a clear list of what you have tried. Do you see this when you toggle caps lock?

 

Changing Caps Lock to Behave Like Shift Lock

Is there any way to change the behavior of caps lock on Windows 11 to behave like a shift lock key? To be more specific, I would like to be able to not only type capital letters (LIKE THIS) but also special characters (!@{}|) by using the caps lock key. I am NOT asking about disabling caps lock using the shift key. Ideally I would never have to touch the shift key when typing.

 

Disable Caps Lock on Windows 10?

The below does not disable CAPS LOCK; instead it converts CAPS LOCK into SHIFT LOCK.

• Right-click Start
• Choose Control Panel.
  
• Under Clock, Language and Region, choose
  Change input methods.
• On the left, choose
  Advanced Settings.
• Near the bottom, click on
  Change language bar hot keys (this is a blue link)
• On the Advanced Key Settings tab, select Press the Shift key
  radio button.
• Click OK, then Save

After this change:

• You press the CAPS LOCK key puts the keyboard in all-caps mode
• You press the SHIFT key to turn off CAPS LOCK and exit all-caps mode.
  • Note that pressing CAPS LOCK again
    will not turn off CAPS LOCK; only by pressing either SHIFT key will CAPS LOCK turn off.

This is similar behavior to how the SHIFT LOCK key works on typewriters.
