Windows 10: Caps Lock display on Lenovo laptops-SOLVED

When typing, a "caps lock" icon pops up every time I press that key.It is not just visually annoying: It locks the keyboard for a second or so each time it toggles.I have seen many complain but all of those threads are locked, not allowing me to post the "solution" that I found.Press the Windows home key.Choose to display "all apps" upper right and scroll down to the apps that start with "L".Look for an app called "Lenovo HotKeys" and launch it. I had to launch it twice.Choose the "Settings" gear icon, lower left.Turn off "CapsLk/NumLock OSD"Hopes this works for others

This is likely to be one of those where, as I don't know what you've already tried, I'll have spent time suggesting what you have tried.

That's why I asked for a clear list of what you have tried.

How to disable Caps Lock/ Num Lock notification Windows 10?

Caps lock and/or num lock icons displaying permanently on Lenovo laptop screen

I have a Lenovo E530c laptop running on Windows 10. I was experiencing the same problem as many users, judging from the number of on line queries and posts, with the caps lock and/or num lock icons staying permanently on at the bottom centre of the screen (black boxes containing either a white numeral one or a capital letter A).

Several posts suggested going to Control Panel, and clicking on “Display,” then clicking on the “Show the indicator for a few seconds” option. This disables the “Always show the indicator” option that was apparently the root of the problem. I tried this to discover that there was no “Display” option under “Control Panel” on my machine.

I eventually clicked on “Settings”, which resulted in a menu with a “Display” option. I clicked on the “display adapter properties” link at the very bottom of this page, which led to a series of tabs, one of which is “screen configurations”. This where I found the caps/numlock display options mentioned above.

So if your machine doesn’t have a “Display” heading under Control Panel (like mine) the solution is:

• Click on the “search” icon at the bottom left of the screen
  
• Type in “Control panel” (both words)
  
• Click on “Settings”
  
• Click on “Display”
  
• Click on “Display adapter settings” at the bottom of the screen
  
• Click on the “Screen configurations” tab
  
• Click on the “Show the indicator for a few seconds"

The Caps Lock On indicator may have been disabled that's why it doesn't appear on your screen when Caps Lock is on. To have it enabled, follow these steps:

• Right-click on your desktop and click Display Settings.
• Click Advanced display settings.
• Scroll down and click Display adapter properties.
• Click the Screen configurations tab and check the box for
  Enable on-screen display.
• Under Indicator settings for NumLock and CapsLock, look for While the numeric lock or the caps lock is ON section and choose either
  Show the indicator for a few seconds or Always show the indicator on the screen.
• Click Apply, then OK.
