Windows 10: Carbon aware windows update? As bad as banning standby LEDs.

What's this nonsense?When devices are plugged in, turned on, connected to the internet and regional carbon intensity data is available, Windows Update will schedule installations at specific times of the day.1 The amount of power used by windows update is negligible, why waste time with this nonsense?2 Windows updates when I say go, when it's convenient for me. There is no schedule.

"Windows Update became carbon aware last year for Windows 11 PCs, and now Xbox consoles are also becoming carbon aware." If you have to toss your existing XBox or Windows 10 PC into the e-waste stream in order to buy the new "Carbon Aware" devices, doesn't this negate any benefits to the environment?

Of course it does, but Microsoft doesn't care. All the big U.S. tech companies pretend to be concerned about the planet, but all they really care about is making money. They trick people by throwing around nonsensical terms like "carbon negative" and "water positive."

It is purely PR work. What is actually a carbon-aware game download? Just a hollow term. A trick to attract environmentalists to buy their new product.
