  1. Cast to device - Xbox one stopped working after Windows update

So Cast to Device for my xbox has just stopped working after the update yesterday which is infuriating as it feels like after every update something else goes wrong.

I try to cast to xbox like normal and rather than opening the Films & TV app on the xbox, it just sends me to the Xbox app store page for Films & TV, which is already installed. I've tried resetting the connection to the xbox, resetting streaming services from my pc, checked that my firewall is allowing streaming and checked that adapters are connected.

    Any help?

  2. After Windows 10 Creators Update, 'cast to device' is not working from my PC to my XBox One (previously it used to work smoothly)

I updated my PC from Windows 10 Anniversary Update to Windows 10 Creators Update using update assistant on 6th April, 2017. Since then I am not able to cast media to my XBox One from MS Edge.

FYI, my XBox is also got updated to new UI design. I am not sure what is the version, need to check.

After these 2 updates (PC & XBox) cast to device has stopped working. Now when I select cast to device, my xbox does not show up in the list.

I also checked for media streaming option, which was on before creator update but now turned off. I enabled it again but still the xbox does not come up in the list of devices.

Before these 2 updates I was able to cast media to XBox successfully from my Windows 10 Phone and Windows 10 PC, but now it has stopped working.

    Please help!

    Cast to device stopped working

    Hi Dale,

Casting media files surely improves the experience. To better understand your issue, we'd like to know the following:

    • The process that you performed to cast.
    • Error messages encountered on casting.
    • The device where you intend to cast.
    • The medium (Bluetooth or Wi-Fi) that you are using to cast.
If you are using Windows Media Player to cast, you can check the steps provided by
Vanessa Yar on this link. To restore your PC, you can check
    the steps via this
    link
    .

We look forward to your response.

    Regards.

  4. Cast to device - Xbox one stopped working after Windows update

    Defect in Cast to Device(?)

    OS: Windows 10

    Device: Xbox One

Defect: Removing the currently playing, or paused, media from the cast to device list does not stop the media.

Summary: When removing the currently playing, or paused, media item from the cast to device list the next media item in the list "inherits" the "handle" of the removed media item. The next media item retains the expected media's title and thumbnail image.
Pausing and resuming the media pauses and resumes the removed media item. Stopping the media and playing the media plays the removed media item from the beginning. If the removed media item is the last media item in the list then a "null handle" is "inherited"
and no media plays, pauses, or stops, yet the play button remains tactile.

Expected Behavior: When removing the currently playing, or paused, media item from the cast to device list stop the media. Then, if the previous media item was playing, begin playing next media item, else, queue the next media item and wait for user input.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1) Add 2 or more media files to the cast to device list.

    2) Play a media item (if not automatically started).

    3) Right-click and remove the playing media item.

    4) Observe behavior described in summary.
