Windows 10: Cast to TV stopped working

So I have been able to cast to my samsung tv up until a few weeks ago where it won't connect. The TV will say "connecting to pc" but then it will lose that message, stay as it currently is and windows 10 will have the "connect to samsung tv" bar at the top of the screen but never connect.

Samsung phone to tv works fine so its not an issue with the tv ( there's nothing really to alter on the tv though), so presumably I've inadvertently turned something off on my laptop which was required for it to work....?

Any ideas?

Cast to device stopped working

I have a new asus laptop (under 3 weeks old) and a new smart tv (under 6 months old).

I have been able to cast video files from my laptop to my smart tv off and on. To try and fix the problem permanently, I updated all my windows drivers and then the cast function worked, but only for one day. The next day, casting again stopped working.
I had not made any changes to my system after updating drivers. My smart tv is a hisense and is also up to date with its drivers.

What happens now is I right click on my video file and select cast to device/smart tv, and the file loads on the TV. However it will not play. I get an error in the cast to device window on my computer saying 'unexpected device error'. There is nothing I
can do to make the files play.

This is a major function that I need, and that is not working on my computer, and I am very disappointed how flaky it is. I thought windows had improved, but this is proving to be extremely frustrating.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Windows 10- Cast to device not working

OT- "Cast To" not working (Smart TV) ?

Hi, I am trying to cast content to my LG Smart TV connected to my network.

The TV appears under 'Network' and under the "Cast To" option.

However the TV does not appear under 'Device Manager' or 'Settings->Devices->Connected Devices'.

So when I click the TV under "Cast To" nothing happens.

I am able to cast to the TV from my smartphone.

I have tried all the generic solutions like disconnecting everything and rebooting as well as enabling streaming under Network & Sharing Centre.

Until my TV is listed under "Digital Media Devices" in 'Device Manager', its not going to work.

Any suggestions ? (please none of the generic copy pasted troubleshooting responses). Thanks.
