Windows 10: Catalog an BKF file on Windows 10

I have several Windows "BKF" backup files I need to catalog and possibly restore on Windows 10.


These files were backed up using a Win98 or Win7 NTBackup.


How can I access these backup files. NTBackup does not seem to run on Window 10 because NTBackup is looking for a removable storage management service/driver.

One really has to be a complete and utter blockhead to suggest converting an older Windows NTBackup .BKF file to a "normal file". Just how do you define "normal file" anyway, and what's suddenly "abnormal" about .BKFs that MS' own NTBackup
utility created? It is painfully clear that you have no idea what a .BKF is. Do you call center people who post such nonsense have
any clue at all about the OS you're supposed to be providing support for? And you get
paid for this? *facepalm*

Let me help you to fix the issue.

Let’s try simple steps and check if you are able to open .bkf file. I would suggest you to copy the .bkf file to a external hard drive and connect the hard drive to a Windows Vista system. Now try converting the .bkf file to a normal file and try copying
the normal file to Windows 10 and check.

If it doesn’t help, you can also try downloading third party software and check.

Opening .bkf files in Windows 10

Dear Billion,

Thank you, but I no longer have a VISTA machine. The software or apps I see seem to promise to open 'hundreds' of file types, but when I look more closely, .bkf is not on their list.

I am under some legal time pressure to produce a file and the shop that most recently repaired my computer, backed it up, and then lost or recycled the harddrive that it came from. I truly need to crack this .bkf problem ...
