  1. CATCH - 22

Hello, Hoping someone in the Community can advise. I seem to be in a Catch-22 situation. I need to use the Restore files facility on Onedrive as deleted files without knowing that Onedrive then deletes them frm storage. But hve no storage space on my main pc to reload. These amongst these files are v.large video files. Can Onedrive retain all copies of my data that are presently on the Onedrive application, whilst I delete the same files on my desktops without deleting them on Onedrive?I do also hve a 2nd desktop that is presently sync’d with my main pc. So, am thinking= to delete th

    Windows 10 Catch 22

This is a warning to those trying to download Windows 10. Microsoft has built an interesting Catch 22 into Windows 10. Get this: if your computer does not already have Windows 10, you cannot download Windows 10 to your computer. So, if you decide to listen to all those warnings that you should stop using Windows 7 and transfer to Windows 10 you are out of luck (unless you have a second computer that is running Windows 10 - then you can download 10 to that computer and transfer it to the computer running 7. But how many of us have two PCs at home - one running 10 and one running 7?).

Caught in Catch 22 attempting to revert to windows 7

    Hi Vanessa,

    Thanks for your timely response.

I don't recall specifically running any Upgrade Assistance or Advisor app prior to installation, but I do remember that the download/installation process did include a check for system compatibility prior to installing Win10 and reported no compatibility
    issues.

I have already checked out the Windows 10 Recovery Options and tried the "Go back to previous version of Windows" and the "Restore from system restore point" options. As reported in my original question above, this option is where I encounter the Catch
22 situation of not being able to delete the user account created during the Windows 10 upgrade download/installation process. I was able to perform the system restore option 2 days ago during one of the few times the PC actually booted up in Win10 for more
than 10 minutes. However, the only restore point available was for the time just after Win10 was installed, so it didn't help. In fact it now seems worse as there is no signal to the monitor and the keyboard is not responsive (numlock and caplock lights
not on suggesting to me that PC and peripherals are not communicating. Even the light on the Ethernet cord plugged into the PC is on during these non-responsive start up sessions.

Can I create a restore drive on my other Win10 PC for use on my problem PC?

I will examine the other options mentioned in the Recovery Options article and try to either boot from a recovery drive or reinstall Win7.

    Thanks, Larry
