Windows 10: CCan't use the mouse anymore . Only the tochpad works.

I hav ea 2 year old HP laptopwith a few faults. like ; the connection with the screen on the laptop got loose. and becaus of an accident with a glass of coca cp;a a year ago , the keyboard isn't perfect anymore . However the system and operating system are very much the samme as when I bought t 2 years ago and work perfectly. So I us eaan extern keyboard and a hdmi cable to connnect it with my new samsung tv and that has alwaays worked perfectly/ But yeserday ater an update my wireless mouse suddenly doesn't work anymore. Just he touchpd works to use the pointer. Ive tried everything I even r

Tochpad Not Working w/ Microsoft Mouse - Windows 10

If still the issue persists, then I would suggest follow the below methods:

Method 1:
Run “Hardware and Devices” troubleshooter to diagnose the exact issue.

Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter:

• Press “Windows key + W”.
• Type “Troubleshooting” without quotes in the Search box and hit enter.
• Select “Hardware and Sound” from the Troubleshooter Window.
• Select “Hardware and Devices” under Devices
  option.
• Follow the On Screen instructions.

Method 2:
Un-install and re-install mouse pad drivers from the manufacturer’s website and see if that helps:

Step 1:
Un-install the drivers:

Follow these steps:

• Press “Windows Key + W” from the keyboard.
• Type “device Manager” without quotes in the search box and hit enter.
• Right click on the mousepad drivers and select “Uninstall”.
• Restart the computer once it is uninstalled.

Step 2: Download the latest mousepad drivers for “Windows 10” from manufacturer’s website and check if that helps.

mouse is not working right


unfortunately there isn't a lot to a usb mouse. what i would suggest is checking the power management settings on it.

Right-click the start menu and choose device manager
Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers at the very bottom
Double-click on each HUB you have listed, click Power Management Tab at the top, and UNCHECK "Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power"
You may have HUBs called Generic and Root Hub. Perform the step above on All of them.

If you continue to have the issue, i would imagine your mouse is malfunctioning. Perhaps try another mouse just to be sure. This will help you determine if it is in fact the mouse of computer causing the issue.

Notebook recognizes mouse but no other usb devices

The mouse still works though
