Windows 10: CCleaner: A Vast Number of Machines at Risk

Didn't tell anyone to ignore this issue, there are ways to check if you are infected, which have been posted many times.

 

Machine from this morning was customers, it was taken down by several viruses, malware and the only
One definitely residing in cclnr was Nyetya. It hadn't been executed, ran Update and it was removed.Latest ccleaner is pure, will have to have the chat of scanning all downloads with antivirus program.

All scans come up as pure.

 

With statements like this what are you saying....

Kind of like firing a flame torch at those with legitimate concerns. You may not have a problem with it, doesn't mean it isn't legitimate.

Well My Two cents is, I was one of the 1st ones to report how to Check if your system was infected early this morning. I posted the ways to check your system. I also posted hours ago, this only affects 32bit versions. I did not see you post anything on what to look for, to insure your system was not affected, all I do see is you doing is complaining. You were most likely still sleeping. Now all I see are people posting the same issues that were reported 8 hours ago, on here just from different sites, but the same information over and over, seems to me some folks just getting a little carried away. I understand the fact that this IS a serious attack, but we still should try to remain clam and check our computers for any signs of them being infected. If a person wants to completely remove CCleaner, than just download Revo Uninstaller Free version, and have it remove CCleaner completely from there hard drive AND their Regisrty, Revo is about the only app that can remove a program completely. Meaning it checks your registry for any leftovers from CCleaner.

Hmm well I only just found out about this issue this morning in this CCleaner Was Hacked: What You Need to Know and I certainly had no idea that it is now owned by Avast and am a little concerned as to whether I should be using it now despite all the reassurances and because of the connection with Avast??
It was also reported in a site I use a lot too IMPORTANT: If You're A CCleaner User You Need To Read This. | Gizmo's Freeware and I shall be having a look at what else is available.

The infected version = 5.33.6162
The latest version = 5.34.6207

FWIW to those using Ccleaner Cloud, version 1.07.3191 is affected.

 

What does the above mean? Some would take it that way. Some users would not worry even though some users have gotten it on 64Bit machines. Your rank may carry some weight with some users*Smile

 

Bwahaha! AVAST distributing malware.... I'll just stick with MS provided Defender for now.

Old games (like the ones I have) don't require 24/7 Internet access either. *Smile

It seems the installer I downloaded is clean.
Regedit can't find "Agomo" on any of my PCs or VMs (XP, W7 & W10 - 32 bit or 64 bit).

It looks like the Registry Key is irrelevant!

MBAM just detected something on my main PC ("funnily enough" Avast detected nothing).

 

The registry keys are relevant, Mbam detected the malicious code that begin everything.
The first stage of the payloader loads a dll into memory and executes the dll that contains all important functionality including the registry part.

 

Indeed, all this malware does, that it collects some system info, pretty much every software does that.

Secondly, taking control over remote devices using cloud version, every remote software is deceptible to this, TeamViewer had been hacked and had its installer altered a few times, so that is to be expected from cloud.

CCleaner and installing avast with out permission...

It is quite obvious that the fake news syndrome is spreading fast and in every facet of life.

Hackers trying to infiltrate software is not new in any sense. I have trusted CCleaner for years and it seams that Avast also saw a great product in acquiring it. Unfortunately just as if your Equifax info were stolen by hackers, you'd have to read up to find out if you feel secure about your info.

This info from Avast is quite clear.

 

Did you do a full or quick scan with MBM?
