Windows 10: CD drive wont read, format, or eject discs.

Hello,I wanted to read some CD's so i can dump them to a flash drive to use on my PS3 and i cant format or read them. When i do it it gives me an I/O error and wont eject, unless i use a unfolded paperclip to use the emergancy eject button.This happend after taking the drive out without

@bcstew: This is because you are clicking on the parent node, and not the DVD/CD-ROM node. Click the link that
I posted in step 2, and it will show you a picture of how to proceed. You need to expand the parent node, before you can access the DVD/CD-ROM node.

@Shenan Stanley: It depends on their definition of "grinding noise". Some optical drives do make noises
as they are trying to read a disc, especially, if the drivers have been corrupted, or if the disc is bad. The movement of the read/write heads can make a similar sound, if the disc is unable to be read.

A failing motor could also make a "grinding noise", but it's unlikely that would cause the disc to be ejected. Without hearing the specific noise in person, it's impossible to say for sure that it's a hardware issue, as everyone has a different idea of what
a specific noise sounds like.

Once we've worked through some basic troubleshooting steps, if the issue is still not resolved, then we can say it is likely a hardware issue.

 

CD/DVD Drive not reading discs

Meaning not on the list when selecting ?

 

DVD drive ejecting disc

Am trying is reinstall a program via cd. The drive does not seem to recognize it and will eject it at the same time it asks me to insert a disc.
