Windows 10: CD drive works, but is not showing up

I have a CD drive for my laptop, but it isn't showing up in device manager at all, it works, it'll spin when you put a disc in, but it isn't showing up anywhere, could this be a faulty connection? If so, how it the drive still getting power. I have tried this with two drives, one old and one brand new

Optical Drive Issue

Appreciate your detailed return. Your added steps really helped.

Assuming I did the steps correctly, this is where I am now.

Screenshot 12 shows my CD Disc shortcut on my desktop.
Screenshot 10 shows the CD Drive shortcut listed in the “Send to” listing.
Screenshot 11 shows the “Send to” listing after the steps were taken, but the CD drive name is not listed.

So, it appears the steps did not work for me. And, I did try the steps, “If it still won’t do ……” and still no luck.

What do you think?

It is possible that your CD drive is outdated or has compatibility issues if you happen to install a recent update on your computer. For us to better assist you, we'd like to know the following details:

• What were the changes made on your computer prior to the issue?
• What version of Windows 10 are you using? To see which version of Windows 10 is installed on your PC, select the
  Start button and then select Settings. In

CD Drive not working

yeah, it is, it goes through the intital formating that takes like an hour, just fine...but the part after the mandatory comp restart where it has all the phrases like The best Windows yet..then after it asks for m cd key..about 1 min later it says i need info from my windows cd and it cant find my cd drive...but the odd part is--i looked in my bios and my cd drive is listed as slave..
