Windows 10: CD/DVD Drive is not showing in File Manager

    CD/DVD Drive is not showing in File Manager


    Hello. I recently encounter a problem where my CD/DVD drive does not appear in File Manager. I tired the following methods already:


    1. Clicked "Show hidden devices" in Device Manager but the dvd drive properties said "This hardware device is not connected to the computer. Code 45", uninstalled the dvd drives, restarted my laptop and scan for hardware changes, but no avail.

    2. Tried using command prompt and Registry Editor, followed the tutorials I searched, but still no avail.

    3. I also troubleshoot the drive under hardware and sound but it said no dvd connected to computer.


    I can guarantee that the dvd drive/player is not damaged physically as it was working fine last week, and I can still insert a CD but my laptop doesn't just detect it.

    The DVD drive was not showing not recognised.

    Thanks for info.

    i have followed steps but still not working.

    the DVDs/cd drive is shown in file manager and it shows it to be working correctly but when a cd/ dvd disc is inserted it is still not recognised.

    If if I double click on the drive in file manager the disc is ejected and I am asked to insert a disc.

    Any further suggestions?

    Select only repair 18.
