Windows 10: CD / DVD drive no longer works after W10 update

CD / DVD drive no longer works after W10 update last night (02/18/19). Please see below. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance.


The following error messages are given when I insert a known good and legal DVD (region code 1).

Something happened on our end. Here’s the error code, in case you need it: 0x87E10BC6




I have checked for driver updates, there are none. I have uninstalled the device and restarted the machine; the device reinstalls but returns the same error messages.


Looking in the device log I saw that it took Windows 3 attempts to migrate the device after the update. I can add those screen shots if helpful.


The PC is a Dell Latitude E6540. Here are the Device Driver details:

CD/DVD drive no longer listed in windows explorer

My CD/DVD drive is no longer listed in windows explorer. How can I get it back?

 

CD/DVD drive is not correctly displayed

All the resolutions listed under Method 1 apply to the cases when CD/DVD drive is not recognized by Windows or other programs. Fortunately, my drive is recognized by Windows and other programs. I tried all the step-by-step resolutions listed, but did not
work. For some reason, my CD/DVD drive icon is not the right icon for the drive, and is for compact flash. Any idea?

I also reset my BIOS settings back to factory reset, but it did not help.

I would suggest you to install the latest drivers for CD/DVD drive from the manufacturer’s website or can update the drivers by following the steps provided below:

• Press “Windows key + R” and type “devmgmt.msc”.
• Right click on DVD/CD Roms from the list and select
  properties.
• Under Driver tab click on Update button and follow the prompts to update the driver.
