Windows 10: CD ROM drive suddenly stopped working, not much info as to why.

Running: Windows 10 x64 v1909

Hello, I am a fellow Windows 10 user (not for much longer though). I was going to install Windows XP on a virtual machine and realised that Windows and no programmes cannot read the CD. Computer Management says "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)". It seems to only be Windows 10 as I had booted into Setup earlier today. There hasn't been any problems before with this. Does anyone have any tips on how to fix it? Thanks.

CD-ROM Drive Info.

What's the make and model of your CD/DVD Drive? Some manufacturers put a sticker on the device where the speed and other relevant information are indicated. However, you may look into the System Information of your PC to get more details about your CD-ROM.
If the information is not available, then we suggest that you check the details from the manufacturer's website.

To check in System Information:

• In the Cortana search, search for System Information and open it.
• Under System Summary, expand Components by clicking the
  + sign.
• Under Multimedia, click CD-ROM.
• Look for the burning speed of your CD-ROM in the left pane.

If the burning speed is not indicated, then we suggest that you visit its manufacturer's website for more information about the device.

DVD/CD Drive Saying CD-Rom

My Dvd drive is listed in my device manager however it is set as cd rom in the description, it also wont open and is not set as my default drive, any suggestions?

After installing W10 cd/dvd rom stopped working its not listed in device manager. I did a reinstall of rom hareware still nothing. In 'this pc' device and drives it shows cd drive I can click on it and say insert disk into cd drive E appears, still wont
recognize any cd or dvd I insert. In the panel at top of window the green load bar runs.

Processor is AMD Phenom(tm) llX61055T 2.80GHz

Motherboard is Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5

Also have problems maneuvering in bios, tried to change boot order was able to get into bios that was it.

Does anyone know what I can do, seriously thinking about going back to W7?
