Windows 10: certain games freezing entire laptop shortly after opening them

ive had this issue for a few days now, i tried a bunch of different possible solutions and none worked. i think i did find the specific causing it, which is the nvidia drivers, since after i think it was after i updated them certain games stopped working. i also tried several older versions of the nvidia drivers, but i still had the same issues, even after clean installs i still get the same issue, so im wondering if theres a simple fix or atleast some kind of temporary solution

Thank you for the help. I went through all the suggestions you offered. None of the scans returned any errors. I also went through the steps on the page you linked to.

In addition, I also ran "mdsched.exe" and a disk check, which also returned no errors.

Unfortunately, the problem has not gone away. My computer freezes shortly after logging in.

Do you have any other suggestions for diagnostics I might be able to use?

 

Game tabs freeze when I open them

Certain games (Halo Infinite, Horizon Zero Dawn, and BF2024 on occasion) open fine, and even run fine except for the fact that whenever I open their specific windows they freeze, I can see them running at decent frames when they're in the background of, say, discord or while alt-tabbing but when I actually open them, the game just freezes up entirely. Wondering if this is something to do with my system or if I just need a spec upgrade, namely my gpu (1050 ti, 4gb)
