Windows 10: CES 2020: Dell introduces sleek, affordable laptop for gamers

Dell delivered welcome news at CES for new and price-conscious gamers with the announcement of the newly redesigned Dell G5 15 SE (Special Edition). It is the first Dell G Series laptop to feature 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen 4000 H-Series Mobile Processors (up to 8 cores and 16 threads) paired with the latest AMD Radeon RX 5000M Series graphics. The two chips work seamlessly together using AMD SmartShift technology to optimize performance by automatically shifting power as needed between the Ryzen processor and Radeon graphics, giving gamers precisely what they want at each moment of play.

Dell G5 15 Special Edition

New features worth calling out include the Game Shift macro key, which allows quick launch of game-ready settings for enhanced performance, reducing latency and sharpening images for fast, immersive gaming. Also, Dell’s Alienware Command Center offers a hub for controlling in-game and peripheral lighting settings, integrating nahimic 3D audio to provide a 360 degree sound experience with Audio Recon overlay, and providing a central game library for easy customization.

The G5 15 SE’s thin, sleek redesign features a modern “fighter plane” look wrapped in a premium iridescent silver finish with metallic accents. Along with a 15.6-inch FHD display panel, the new G5 15 SE has an optional 144Hz refresh rate, optional four-zone RGB keyboard with WASD and optional 68WHr battery for those who don’t want to stop when they game on the go.

Did we mention the price? Dell is making the new G5 15 SE truly affordable with a starting price of $799.99 beginning in mid-April.

CES 2020: New Dell smaller thinner XPS 13 and Alienware gaming monitor

At CES, Dell introduced a new XPS aimed at helping you innovate, collaborate and accomplish more in the next decade, as well as the new Alienware 25 Gaming Monitor.

Dell XPS 13 9300 (Model 9300)

With the new XPS 13, Dell showed off a smaller and thinner form factor for users who want maximum screen space, by reducing its InfinityEdge borders. With a 6.8% larger 16:10 display that spans from all four edges, the new 25% brighter XPS InfinityEdge display delivers more screen space to multitask throughout the day and catch all the details of the latest binge-worthy show. And holding true to what XPS fans love most, this new design delivers a 13.4-inch display in an 11-inch form factor— fitting neatly on an airplane tray.

The Project Athena-certified XPS 13 offers 10th Generation Intel Core 10nm mobile processors and long battery life. Simpler and more sustainable packaging eliminates foam, making it easier for users to recycle. Available options include the traditional XPS 13 with Windows 10 or the Developer Edition featuring Ubuntu 18.04LTS.

The XPS 13, starting at $999.99, will be available in the U.S., Canada, Sweden, U.K., Germany and France Jan. 7 and globally Feb. 4.

Built for speed with a 99% sRGB color coverage, the new Alienware 25 Gaming Monitor features fast IPS technology that offers rich colors, a 240Hz refresh rate and a 1 millisecond response time, all in native FHD resolution. It also has AMD Radeon FreeSync and is G-Sync compatible.

It’ll be available globally March 11, starting at $499.99.

I want to disable touchpad on Dell laptop

These 7 steps allowed me to disable my touchpad (Dell laptop, Windows 10):

Win Start button

Type in "device manager"

Select Device Manager to open it

Click down arrow to left of "Mice and other..." to expand

Right click Dell Touchpad

Disable device

Yes
