Windows 10: cftmon.exe - Success / ctfmon.exe - Success

I have a windows 11 dell laptop . I was sorting some files on my secondary hard drive when suddenly i got a popup window that said: "ctfmon.exe - Success" or "cftmon.exe - Success". I don't really know which one because the f was like the t. Then everything started disappearing, first the file explorer then whatsapp then chrome and then start menu and then the taskbar. So i forced shutdown my laptop, turned it on and everything was back to normal. I don't know what was this or the reason it happened.

I have followed the instructions listed in the link you have provided but received several errors along the way.

Step 3 produced a path not found error

I first attempted these instructions without step 4 as indicated, the overall outcome was the same.

After this I went to windows update and clicked search for updates which proceeded to download and install updates, after being prompted for a reboot the update fails again which appears to be the same as the initial error.

Any other suggestions? I really don't want to have to re-format my PC again.

Thanks for the suggestion it definitely looks good but I would have to create a .exe file which looks possible using iexpress.exe but as yet I have had no success.....

EXE file will not open

I recently had some software installed on my computer that was not running well so I uninstalled and tried to reinstall it but the EXE file would no longer open. I googled the issue which references registry issues but having followed troubleshooting steps it still did not work. I have downloaded other EXE files which open fine so I am at a loss what is causing this issue. The windows troubleshooter changes the version of windows it is compatible with which atleast opens the dialogue box about making changes to the system but nothing happens after that. I have followed all troubleshooting steps provided before such as regedit and some system disk checker as well with no success.
