Windows 10: change column options and sort order permanently win10

I want to change the top-level and all sub folders sort option to include 'date taken' as a column. I have to change each folder and sub folder separately and then it is not retained. I can't find anything online that has helped. Mostly finding info about renaming to date or how to right click and sort by date but not adding 'date taken' as a column choice. Any help would be appreciated.

Permanently change column order in Programs and Features

How do I permanently change the column order in 'Programs and Features'? I want the order to be 'Name', 'Installed On', 'Version', . . . so that it all fits on half the screen when I am updating software.

On my desktop (Windows 10 Pro 19044.2075), I can re-order the columns, but after reboot they are back where they were, and 'Version', is off the screen again.

On my wife's notebook (Windows 10 Pro 19044.2006), I reordered the columns a few months ago, and they have remained reordered after many reboots.

That behaviour is beyond my understanding, I'm afraid. I have right-clicked on the columns-title bar, but the resulting menu does not mention permanent changes.

(And please don't remove 'Programs and Features' — it is so much more informative, and so much easier to use, than 'Apps and Features'.)

Yes!!! I changed the order of the columns, then followed your steps, and the order has survived two reboots.

Thank you very much, Dave, for your very quick and very clear and reply. I feel as if I should have worked it out for myself, but I was only looking for some relevant button around the columns, and didn't even think of looking at the tabs at the top. You remark about File Explorer made it all clear.

One top mark for the Windows Forum, also.

By the way, I intended to click five stars. I started my ticking at the left, and it all disappeared, so I think I gave only one star. Apologies, and perhaps someone can change this to five stars.

 

Explorer - Dropbox Sort Order in registry not permanent


Hello folks,

I have changed the sort order of some of my items in the left navigation pane of the Windows Explorer (see screenshot).




However, upon rebooting only the Dropbox icon will jump back to its old place.




The registry entries are being overwritten back to what they were before I changed them and I would have to do the same process all over again.
Anyone of you knows the reason for that? And perhaps even a solution, how to keep the sort order permanently?
