So I have tried using Powertoys, can't get it to properly swap [ & {. Have tried remapping, but no matter the settings it just won't work. I can change one or the other, but not both together. I want to swap the keyboard behaviour for these 2.How can I change the default behaviour, using regedit/registry or powertoys, so that shift+[ = [[ = {shift+] = ]} = ]I would even use CTRL+[ if it meant being able to do [={I want to natively output { without having to use a function key, while keeping [ somehow. In the following all this does is make both shift+[ & { = { it is not remapping shift+

    :)

  2. Why the hell was SHIFT+ALT replaced by CTRL+SHIFT to change keyboard layouts (with the last updates ?)

Hi, my name is Kelly, and I'm an independent consultant and I'm here to help.

I understand that you are frustrated with the change in the keyboard layout switching shortcut from SHIFT+ALT to CTRL+SHIFT. It can be challenging to adapt to a new shortcut, especially when it conflicts with another common shortcut you use.

The reason for this change is that the CTRL+SHIFT shortcut is more commonly used across different applications and operating systems, making it a more standardized and universal option. However, I understand that this change has caused inconvenience for users like yourself who are used to using SHIFT+ALT.

If you want to change the keyboard layout switching shortcut back to SHIFT+ALT, you can do so by following these steps:

Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language.

Under the "Preferred languages" section, click on "Options" next to the language you want to change the shortcut for.

Click on "Add a keyboard" and select the keyboard layout you want to use.

Click on "Advanced keyboard settings" and scroll down to the "Switching input methods" section.

Click on "Change language bar hot keys" and select "Between input languages" from the list.

Click on "Change Key Sequence" and select "Not Assigned" for both "Switch Input Language" and "Switch Keyboard Layout".

Click "OK" to save your changes.

After following these steps, you can use SHIFT+ALT to switch between keyboard layouts on your Windows device. I hope this helps alleviate some of the frustration you have been experiencing.

Keyboard keeps changing from my default!

Disable the keyboard shortcuts that have caused your problems by changing layouts inadvertently.

    Settings,
    Devices,
    Typing,
    Advanced keyboard settings,
    Input language hot keys,
    Advanced key settings tab,
    Change key sequence,
Set Switch input language to Not assigned,
Set Switch keyboard language to Not assigned,
    OK,
    OK.

But there is also the WinKey+Spacebar shortcut and I have never found a way of disabling that.

A method of redirecting this key combination using PowerToys is suggested in the 30th May post by Archimedes Trajano at Disable Win+Space keyboard-layout switch - Super User
    - There is a list of WinKey shortcuts in Keyboard shortcuts in Windows 10 - Windows Help
    - When I was considering this issue, it seemed to me that redirecting WinKey+Spacebar to
    WinKey+, {Desktop Peek}
was the least obtrusive alternative but a close second was
    WinKey+Ctrl+Shift+B {wake PC}
but this does flash the screen & sound a beep.

Hibernating laptop changes to sleep behaviour after Windows 10 May 2019 update

    Hi Aditya,

Thank you for your reply. I have tried the two steps (turning of Hybrid sleep and Fast startup) you suggested but to no avail. Okay, for your two questions:

    1. My laptop is a HP Pavilion 14-bf101tx, and currently running Windows 10 1903 (upgrading from 1809).
    2. Nope. No error messages. I suppose the boot process was successful, however, my battery was reduced. That's why I suggest the post title as "Hibernating changes to sleep behaviour" because the battery level reduction looks like sleep behaviour.

Please inform me of any diagnostics information you might need. Thank you for your kind assistance.
