I was unable to select a printer in Edge. I pressed Print while in Edge and it looped immediately, showing an inactive printer as the selected printer before i could even select the printer. I tried all the previously listed options, changing option for windows managing my printers and restarting many times. Final answer - i deleted the inactive printer from my list of printers and next time i tried to print from edge my true default printer showed up!!! No looping!!

I suggest you to make sure that you made the following settings and check if you are able to print.

Step 1:

• 
  Open MS Edge and click on more actions [...]
  
• 
  Click on Settings and select
  Print.
  
• 
  Choose your printer from the list and check if you are able to print.
  

Step 2:

• 
  Press Windows key and type
  Control Panel.
  
• 
  Click on view by and select large icons.
  
• 
  Open Devices and printers.
  
• 
  Right click on your printer and select set a default printer.

Need to change default printer in Edge browser

Not true! If you don't select the printer that you've designated as default each and EVERY time you print, the program defaults to Microsoft XPS file program and you get no printing!

EDIT: While troubleshooting this problem, I'd selected the default printer in several instances of Edge, but had not printed. Once I'd printed with the default printer selected, Edge retained the setting. Fact is, Edge ignored the default selection and
selected Microsoft XPS. All other programs had selected the proper default printer I'd designated.

Printing in Microsoft Edge

Same problem. I upgraded from 7 to 10. The problem is that Edge is not remembering the default printer. When you try to print it shows the first printer in the list. This is very annoying and is a programming error in Edge.
