Windows 10: Change default setup for dual monitor

The firm I'm working for is extensively using flexible workplaces.
Most desks are nicely equipped with an additional monitor for use with my own laptop.
This is very convenient when the additional monitor is setup to "Extend these displays".
However, every time I connect to a new monitor, it is setup by default in the mode "Duplicate these displays".
This wouldn't be such a hassle if it weren't for the rearrangement of my windows and desktop icons due to the different monitor resolutions.

Is there a way to change the default "Display setting" to "Extend these displays"?

Press Windows key + P

The click the Extend menu to setup dual monitor configuration.

Windows cannot be installed on your TV, but you could connect it as a second monitor or primary monitor. See how to setup a dual display configuration:

When you plug in a monitor, just press Win Key+P.





From there you can select whatever mode you want.

 

Thanks for this quick reply. However, this is similar to changing the settings via the setup menu.
And this still changes my resolution settings.
I would like to know how to change the setting for all future plugged in monitors.

 

Check your GPU driver settings panel, if you set it there, windows should conform to it's settings.

 

I run an external USB 3 monitor on my laptop. Once displaylink installed and it was working correctly, I set it to extend. If it's plugged in when I boot it up it goes to extend automatically. Programs I set to open on that screen open there when I launch them. If it's not plugged in, everything opens on my laptop screen. I go back and forth from dual to single without having to change any settings.
